The New G.ho.st Loads Up Much Faster than Before

From G.ho.st Virtual Computer users' guide

There was a time that we used to wait for a while for the G.ho.st Virtual Computer to load up. Not with this new release. I tried it and noticed that the loading time for this new release is much faster than before.

I tested it today and for the initial loading it took about 20.8 seconds till i could use my VC but after the initial loading it only took 9.8 seconds and my Virtual Computer is ready for use.

Before I was having some problems using my Smart Mobile and Smart Bro due to its speed but now my G.ho.st VC loads up easily.

G.ho.st Establishes Philippines Office

PHILIPPINES April 8, 2009 G.ho.st (pronounced "ghost", the Global Hosted Operating SysTem) today announced the establishment of an office in the Phillipines. G.ho.st has developed a revolutionary award-winning Virtual Computer (VC) technology which allows the user to create and access their desktop, files and applications all in a Web page, from any computer or mobile phone, free of charge.

The Phillipines is the second country outside Palestine and Israel to have a local G.ho.st office. "We are excited by the growth of the ICT sector in the Philipines" said G.ho.st CEO Zvi Schreiber "and hope to contribute to this growth by offering a free Virtual Computer to every person in the Phillipines".

Country manager Gener Morada added "We are ensuring a great experience for Filipino users by offering the G.ho.st VC in Tagalog and offering local support and community"

As an Internet Cafe Owner, Why Should I Encourage my Customers to Use G.ho.st?

  • Basically, you can use G.ho.st as a marketing tool to attract more customers into your internet cafes and to get their loyalty. You can offer them a free online file storage that they could use to store their files without the additional cost of buying a computer with a large hard disk space to act as a server. You could also tell them that the size of their file storage increases for free as long as they recommend to their friends to use G.ho.st.
  • One of the common problems that we have are viruses coming from flash disk that is commonly used by our customers to store their files. It is bothersome on the part of the internet cafe owner to set up a system to prevent virus infection from flash disks and there is no guarantee that it would be effective. We would be minimizing our time from getting rid of these viruses if we would be able to encourage our customers of using the G.ho.st file storage rather than the flash disks.
  • Internet cafe owners will save a lot of money in terms of software licensing. The Philippine Anti Piracy Team which is primarily composed of the Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation and the Optical Media Board recently announced a crack down on internet cafes using pirated software. One of the problem of the internet cafe owners in using Linux as their primary software is that their customers are more comfortable in using Windows applications like yahoo messenger and Microsoft Office. The G.ho.st desktop contains online apps that are very familiar to your customers like yahoo web messenger, online Zoho Office and it has even its own web browser. So you can use Linux and yet have Windows based online apps available to your customers and we take care of all the administrations.

As an ordinary user, how can I use G.ho.st in my daily activities?

3. As an ordinary user, how can I use G.ho.st in my daily activities?

This question could be answered in a number of ways:

  • If you don't own your own computer unit like the condition that we have here in the Philippines wherein the computer penetration rate stands at 14%. the desktop is your own personal space. Most users prefers to personalized their desktop to define their personal space in computing which is really hard to accomplish if you would be using computers in an internet cafe. G.ho.st could provide you with your own virtual desktop that you could personalized the settings and it could be accessed through the web browser anywhere even in internet cafes.
  • G.ho.st Virtual Computer could be used to back up your important files. Upon setting up your virtual computer, you would be provided with 5GB of file storage that we call as the G.ho.st Drive. You can upload and store any type of files in the G.ho.st Drive and share it directly from the G.ho.st Drive to your friends. You can get additional file storage space by inviting your friends to sign up with g.ho.st and from promotional codes frequently given out by G.ho.st. In the future, as an additional feature you can purchase additional file storage if you need to.
  • G.ho.st Virtual Computer contains third party web applications that you could use like so that you would save money and hard disk space to be productive. It has an online office through Zoho and Google Docs. Instant messaging web apps through yahoo web messenger, meebo and IloveIm. Social networking tools like twitter and friend feed. Web based games, online radio, rss feeds, multimedia tools, email and so much more.
  • If you are a heavy user of web 2.0 applications and frequently forgets your username and password of the numerous sites you are patronizing, you would enjoy using G.ho.st for it contains all the web applications that you want using only a single sign on page.
  • You don't really have to worry about the administration since G.ho.st Inc will do it for you. Study shows that at least 1/4 of the time spent in front of the computer is for updating anti-virus software and other programs. With G.ho.st you do not really need a very complicated computer system. It could be accessed with Windows, Linux or Mac since all you need is a web browser.

Let us see how it works

Screen Shots of G.ho.st

What is G.ho.st Really all About?

In doing my job as the country representative of G.ho.st these are the FAQs that i encounter in every event that I have attended:

1. What does G.ho.st stands for and why the periods in between?

G.ho.st actually stands for Global Hosted Operating System that is being developed by Ghost Inc of Israel which was founded by Zvi Schreiber in 2006. It has periods in between the letters since it is actually a url. There is no .com or .net at the end so that once you placed it in the address bar of your web browser it would go directly to the G.ho.st website.

2. What is the G.ho.st Virtual Computer?

The G.ho.st Virtual Computer is a personal computing environment which includes your desktop, your personal settings, your files and your choice of software applications but unlike what you ordinarily see in a pc, the virtual computer is not installed in the pc but are located in professional data centers accross the internet cloud. you can access your virtual computer anywhere and any kind of computer sytems through the web browser in the world. Just open your web browser go to the g.ho.st homepage by typing G.ho.st in the address bar, sign in using your username and password and start working with your G.ho.st Virtual Computer.

G.ho.st users Guide

Hi everybody, I am Gener Luis Morada, the country representative of G.ho.st Virtual Computer in the Philippines. Part of my job is to tell people in my country about the benefits of using our product but the time i spent with them during the events was not really enough that they are always asking for more information.

So I have decided to create this blog so that it would provide snippets of information on concept of the G.ho.st Virtual Computer and hopefully serve as a guide on how to fully utilize its features. this is most especially directed to the internet cafe owners in the Philippines who are very numerous in terms of numbers and yet have very little time to go through all the concepts of G.ho.st. hopefully this will inspire them to promote it to their customers
